CrossFit Games 2021 is nearing and many participants are excited. There will be women's competitions in addition to the regular men's and women's competitions. We have all heard about the women's competition, the Pegboard contest, the Cutting system, and Reebok's equipment, but do you know what to expect? Keep reading to find the answer! Competition for women

The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Jonne Koski won in the first event. Koski won the overall competition after maintaining her lead all the way. Tall finished second and Eramoo O’Connell third, respectively. This was the first Games event for women and the women's team hoped to finish the podium.

The women's competition features top-level female athletes. The field features nine athletes, including a 19 year-old Australian powerhouse who won this competition last year. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Andrea Nisler was also a rising star. In 2018, she competed in team division and came in third in the United States. She finished fifteenth in 2020. Aside from these athletes, the Women’s competition will also include a newcomer, Sara Sigmundsdottir, an Icelandan competitor, who won first place at the World Crossfit Games earlier.

Pegboard contest

The Pegboard contest at the Crossfit Games 2021 was a first. It was added to the Games' summer Olympic program along with double-unders and dumbbell overhead squats. Toomey-Orr set the record for most wins in a single Games event with 30. Sager won Event 11 (for men) and was awarded his third Games win. There were several tie in the contest but Toomey Orr's dominance was too strong to stop him winning.

CrossFit Games training involves focusing on ten basic physical fitness skills: endurance, strength flexibility power speed and agility. The Pegboard contest tests a competitor's grip strength and coordination. The competitors compete by holding two wooden stakes between their fingers. After completing the Pegboard, the competition was intense and athletes felt a sense of accomplishment.


Cutting system

CrossFit Games will again use a cutting method for individual competition. While it's not as extreme or drastic as in previous Games, this year is very different. The competition consists of 15 individual events, so a first cut to 30 athletes is likely after the seventh or eighth event. Another question remains: how will CrossFit adjust the points spread following cuts? The scoring table used during the 2019 games was almost identical to that used in 2021. It is likely that this will continue.

This year's CrossFit Games field includes 236 athletes. It is the largest ever. The first six events result in major cuts. The field is now reduced to 75. The top 30 competitors then compete in the sprint couplet to determine which athlete is number ten. From there, the top twenty athletes compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system was criticized by veterans Games participants who felt the cuts were too large.

Reebok's equipment

Reebok recently announced new CrossFit Games equipment, including clothing and shoes. The Nano X1 shoes are the new model. They can be used for multiple fitness goals. Reebok describes this shoe as the "shoe of fitness", but it actually feels more like an ordinary training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar upper promotes breathability while ensuring durability. The firm midsole and RopePro tech enhance the responsiveness of the shoes.

CrossFit's contract with Reebok will expire at the end 2020. The Games will no longer have a title sponsor. Reebok sponsored the Games for more a decade. Now, it is obvious that the company will lessen its involvement. The company won't fund the Games' prize purse, but will continue to make all of the athletic apparel and equipment worn by athletes, including the new Reebok gear. The company will no more refer to itself by the name "Reebok Fitness Games", as it does right now.
